Autumn Term 2018
Welcome to Y2! We are very excited to be exploring our local area and where we fit in to the wider world. We will be learning about the UK and the oceans that surround us as well as looking at how our lifestyle compares to that of people who live in various holiday destinations. Not only this, we will be conducting fieldwork in and around the village, undertaking surveys to find out where people in our area go on holiday and why they choose the places they visit.
In English, we are very excited to be studying traditional tales and using our drama skills to retell famous stories. We are linking this to our study of Islam and how Muslims use the stories Quran to shape the lives they want to lead.
Here in Year 2 we are looking forward to learning about ‘What events shaped the world?’ as part of our History themed topic. We will be thinking about significant events from the past, the impact they’ve had on the world and how they shaped the future. During the topic we will be looking at The Great Fire of London, the first men on the moon and the Royal Wedding. At the end of term 3, we will be holding our own ‘moon party’ where we will be launching our rocket homework projects into space! Through drama and English we will be thinking about writing newspaper articles, diary entries and writing stories based on the knowledge we have learnt. It’s going to be a very exciting term. Follow us on facebook and twitter to find out more about what we are doing each week.
