Autumn Term 2018
Zebra class, it’s looking like a very exciting term ahead! We will be fully immersing ourselves in our Geography topic all about Volcanoes and earthquakes and linking our poetry writing and science in too so expect to be using lots of powerful and technical vocabulary throughout the term. Keep reading and researching as much as you can at home to support your learning!
Spring Term 2019
Where did the Roman emperor keep his armies?
Up his sleevies!
This term, Y3 will be exploring the topic of The Romans and how they changed Britain, all centred on the learning question ‘What Have The Roman’s Done for Us?’ This exciting topic will give the children the chance to learn about why and when the Romans came to Britain and the impact they had while they were here. We also have an exciting trip to Lincoln Bailgate where we will find evidence that tells us how important our city was to the Roman civilisation.
We will be making links with this topic in our English lessons, firstly by writing some Roman themed diary entries and moving on to newspaper articles. In Maths, we will be developing our understanding of multiplication and division, learning about money, understanding statistics, measuring length and tackling fractions. Our science topic this term is the human body. This topic will allow us to investigate our bones and muscles and will give us the opportunity to take part in some exciting experiments.
What an exciting term ahead we have!
If you wish to support your child’s learning at home then we would ask that you read with your child as much as possible and ask them questions about what they have read as well as giving them opportunities to practise their times tables facts, in particular their 3, 4 and 8 times tables. You may wish to use TT Rockstars for this. Although spellings are set every week as homework, if you would like to practise more spellings then please refer to the Y3/4 spelling list. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and ask.
